WES 101: The basics

Wesley Campus Ministry is a group of Valley college students who aim to connect their campus communities to the love of Jesus Christ. Students come to Wesley to grow spiritually, serve their communities, and find fellowship.

We're one of the many United Methodist campus ministries located at colleges and universities across the country and a part of the United Methodist Student Movement.

our mission statement

Wesley Foundation's campus ministry calls students to seek Christ with adventurous spirits, questioning minds, and compassionate hearts; and to live as faithful servants in the church and the world.

Open minds welcome

John Wesley

For many, the college years form an intense period of personal and intellectual development. College students often question and analyze their outer surroundings and inner beliefs during these formative years. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement and the person for which our ministry is named, realized the importance of intellectual reasoning in spiritual thinking. Wesley considered Scripture, tradition, experience, and reason (four components now commonly referred to as the Wesleyan Quadrilateral) key to the development of a Christian's faith.

Everyone needs a break from the stresses of college life at times, which we're happy to provide for our students. But we don't ask our students to leave the curiosity fostered by their classes at the door. Wesley students are encouraged to be just that, students– reasoning, questioning, thinking.

A home away from home

It can be hard to make friends on a 50,000-student campus like ASU-Tempe or on a commuter campus like many of the Maricopa Community Colleges, but Wesley provides many opportunities for fellowship from which lasting friendships are born.

What's more, whether you're an ASU student who grew up in Ohio or a MCC student who grew up in Mesa, Wesley can give students a "home away from home" and a family that eats together, worships together, serves the community, and has fun! The home-style cooking we offer each Wednesday is hard to come by on today's college campuses, and so too are the friendships that many find at Wesley.

Join us!

Membership is open to students from any institution of higher education in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Our ministry is headquartered in Tempe, adjacent to the Tempe campus of Arizona State University, but students from any of the four ASU campuses, the ten Maricopa Community Colleges, and the many smaller and more specialized schools in the Valley are welcome to join us!
